Araceli,* a 29-year-old single mother of 3 from Guatemala, sought better healthcare after immigrating to the U.S. in late 2023. Araceli says, “My children no longer have toothaches like they did in Central America. The dental treatments we receive at Sonrisas has made me so grateful for our family in America.” In her rural hometown, dental care meant extracting teeth instead of treating cavities. Sonrisas Dental Health encountered Araceli and her daughter, Mirna,* at a school screening in October 2023, when Mirna was suffering from a severe tooth infection. Araceli found relief when Sonrisas offered proper dental treatments to save her teeth rather than having to extract. Now, Araceli and her three children receive compassionate care at Sonrisas, and Araceli credits Sonrisas for making her feel welcome in their new country.
